The Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce is
looking forward continued growth and stability in the business community.
We are excited by our expanded technologies and we promise to advance
commerce in ways never before imagined.
We invite you to participate in the Chamber's own technological efforts
by visiting our web site at: www.walthamchamber.com.
This site was designed with the needs of our members, the business
community, and the region as a whole in mind.
The Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce Business Center, at
84 South Street, is designed as a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of
business needs. It showcases Member business products and services
to other businesses and to the community-at-large. It includes the
4C Conference Center, an office for Massachusetts Office of Business
Development (MOBD), and Senior Core of Retired Executives (SCORE)
business counseling, and services from U.S. Export Assistance Center
(USEAC).
Whether your business is located in downtown Waltham or the Route
128 corridor, you're a major employer or a smaller business, the Waltham
West Suburban Chamber of Commerce can guide you in the right direction
toward meeting your specific business needs.
We are pleased to provide you with the many services outlined in this
year's Membership Directory. The Chamber encourages you to think of
this directory as your personal business and community resource.
We extend thanks to our Members for their continued support, and we
heartily welcome those businesses and organizations that have joined
our ranks. The Board of Directors and the Chamber Staff look forward
to a year of growth and prosperity with all of you.
The Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce is among the oldest
business organizations in the region, with roots that trace back to
1857. It was formerly organized in 1916 and duly incorporated in 1917.
It is one of a few Chambers in Massachusetts to boast the U.S. Chamber
of Commerce National Accreditation seal. This designation signifies
the credibility and professional business practice by which the Chamber
conducts itself. There are many Chambers of Commerce... few comparable
with this national recognition and status.
The Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce is independent and represents
the business community in the region. There are nearly 700 business
members who invest in the organization with their dollars, program
ideas, and volunteer effort through committees and other related activities.
In turn, the Chamber utilizes the investment to help business do business
through local governmental affairs, state and federal legislative
advocacy, public relations, economic and community development, business
and educational programs, and a "voice for business."
It is a partnership that works. The Chamber is effective because of
its strong membership base. The expectations, policies, goals and
direction of the organization are defined by the Board of Directors,
elected annually, and led by the chief elected volunteer, the Chairman
of the Board. The operations of the organization are led by an Executive
Director and a professional support staff. The committee structure
excels due to the member representatives who work with the Board and
staff on programs and activities.
The Chamber is 100% funded by the membership. We do not receive any
city, state or federal dollars and are not directly affiliated with
City Hall. While we work with, and maintain good working relationships
with our public sector entities, the Chamber is a private sector organization
accountable only to its membership.
Dollars invested with the Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce
are deductible as a business expense and not a charitable donation.
The Chamber is a taxable, not-for-profit 501C (6) corporation and
is subject to all IRS statutes. Approximately .05% of the annual member
investment is classified as a non-deductible expense due to the Chamber's
lobbying efforts.
Businesses of all types and sizes, independent professionals and entrepreneurs
join the Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce. Enhanced opportunities
for networking, promotion and advertising, committee involvement and
"member only" referrals and benefits are among the key reasons why
Membership is a top priority for so many.
Being a member of the Waltham West Suburban Chamber of Commerce makes
sense and represents a good business decision.
